Mumei Gin is made in Kurume, Fukuoka prefecture on Japan´s southwestern island of Kyushu. It is the first Japanese gin using hop, the other botanicals are juniper, coriander, bitter-orange peel, yuzu, gyokuro (the finest Japanese tea), cherry tree leaves and Japanese mint. Producer Oenon selected botanicals that are familiar to the Japanese palate, so it can be enjoyed straight, whereas gin normally is used in cocktails in Japan. “Mumei” means “unnamed” or “anonymous”, because this gin´s flavour truely says more than 1,000 words.
Mumei Gin has an intense flavor, but is still a gentle and pleasant drink that can be enjoyed straight or with tonic (we recommend a more neutral, light tonic). With 40% acohol it is much lighter than other Japanese gins. It is also great in cocktails.
